What’s Going On With Packback: September 2018

Posted by

Class is back in session and Packback is excited to continue fueling lifelong curiosity on campuses across the country! We spent the summer growing our team, expanding our curiosity footprint and updating our platform. This semester, we’re focused on continuing to grow a team of passionate thinkers and fostering curiosity among leaders in Chicago.

Continuing to Grow Our Team

The secret to our success at Packback is our amazing, curious team. This summer, we welcomed seven new Strategy Consultants and have plans to continue hiring. We have openings for more than 30 new team members before wrapping up 2018 (6 Junior Experience Managers and 25 Strategy Consultants).

Making A More Curious Chicago

Packback’s purpose in awakening and fueling lifelong curiosity doesn’t just apply to students using our discussion platform. We’re on a mission to create a more curious Chicago and we’re excited to launch a few new initiatives this fall.

MAKESPACE: Makespace was created to be a physical space, a supportive community, and a monthly event where members of the Chicago community can share their creative gifts, be inspired by the works of other creators and engage in experiences that push us outside of our comfort zones. Each month we’ll host five performance acts and one visual artist in our office in the South Loop. We successfully hosted our first September event and we’re excited to have a full house of truly engaged audience members and talented artists. To stay updated on upcoming events, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

A More Curious Chicago Series: As a growing startup in the Chicago ecosystem, we are passionate about supporting curiosity in the next generation of Chicago leaders. Starting this fall, we will be hosting a series of networking events and discussion panels, with a focus on sales, engineering and entrepreneurship. Participants will learn how to sharpen their professional skills and bring a curious mindset to their respective industry. If you’re interested in attending contact us at curious@packback.co!

Packback Questions Updates

Platform Updates: This semester, we rolled out our Curiosity Credits program, Critical Debates and Custom Feedback.

Professor Tools: We understand professors are always busy, so we launched a few professor tools to make using Packback a more efficient and seamless experience. Professors can now manage their student rosters with our Roster Management Tools, search tags to find quality questions across the entire Packback platform with our Seeded Questions Selection Tool and invite TAs to their communities with our TA Invitation Tool.

Accessibility: Packback is deeply committed to maintaining accessibility on our platform to create an environment where every student can explore their curiosity. We recognize that delivering the most accessible web experience is an ongoing process and we strive to conform to the WCAG 2.0 Level AA Standards on the Packback Questions Platform. To continue our investment in accessibility, we have grown our team to include a dedicated accessibility engineer and we have engaged a firm to perform recurring 3rd-party audits of our platform. We’re also working to make our social channels more accessible by adding captions to our videos and descriptions to our images on Twitter. To learn more, you can view our accessibility statement.

It’s never a dull day in the office with our Packback Pup Pepper! She’s been catching up on some educational reading and loved the cover story in the recent issue The Chronicle of Higher Education (which featured Packback!) Check out her latest adventures by following her on Instagram at @pepperatpackback.
