Dr. Lutfi Hussein shares how Packback got his students to engage with their readings
Class discussion plays an essential role in Dr. Lutfi Hussein’s English course. In previous courses, Dr. Hussein used his own questions to guide conversations and found students weren’t responding with thoughtful ideas. Once he brought in Packback, Dr. Hussein noticed a significant difference in the way students were interacting.
“I am really pleased with the way that the students are making the best use of Packback,” says Dr. Hussein, “They’re asking thought-provoking questions that demonstrate their genuine engagement with the readings.”

“Class discussions are a very important component of the grade, but also of the class as a whole. And even though I have been providing students with questions, guiding questions for their reflections on the readings, I’ve never had a class that engaged with the readings, and students engaged one another with questions and responses as actively as this group this semester has on Packback. I am really pleased with the way that the students are making the best use of Packback. They’re asking thought-provoking questions that demonstrate their genuine engagement with the readings, and students are asking very good questions, but also responding to each other’s questions, which indicates a high level of critical thinking and sophisticated thinking as well. It’s been a very positive experience so far.”
