The Packback team spent the summer improving Packback Questions to ensure professors and students are getting the most from their Packback experience. This fall, Packback will be introducing several new features along with a new pricing model. The platform updates will help professors fuel purpose and curiosity for the subject matter and help students feel more connected!
Packback encourages lifelong curiosity, and it’s important that price is never a barrier for students to use Packback. Effective Fall 2018, Packback will be introducing the “Curiosity Credits” program. This new pricing structure makes Packback increasingly affordable for students as they continue to use Packback.
Packback Questions standard price is $25 per student per community. With the Curiosity Credits program, students earn a $3 discount for each community they join, which gets applied to their next purchase. A student’s first community is $25; their second is $22; their third is $19. This structure continues all the way down to a minimum price of $10 per community.
On August 31, 2018, students will be able to reply directly to any post in the community with the “Add Response” option. Students can choose to reply with either a Counter Point or a Supporting Point. Students will also be able to see how many Counter Points and Supporting Points each Response receives.
These new Response types will guide students to post constructive arguments using data to defend their opinions while enhancing peer-to-peer learning so students can follow their curiosity on any given subject. Both Counter Points and Supporting Points are subject to all the same requirements as Responses and will be counted as Responses within the grade report.
To help professors have more control over the feedback their students receive and to offer a way to provide positive feedback that scalably impacts the entire class, Packback has introduced a new feature called, “Give Feedback”.
At the bottom of each Packback post, professors and TAs will see a “Give Feedback” button on the “Options” menu. There are two options to choose from with the new “Give Feedback” feature: Coach (private coaching feedback to the student) or Praise (public praise to help the entire class understand why this is a great post).

Added Professor Tools
Managing classes, conducting research and staying on top of other administrative duties can be time-consuming for professors. That’s why Packback has developed a number of new tools to make using Packback Questions a more efficient and seamless experience.
Roster Management Tool
Packback now has a full Roster Management portal for professors to manage their student enrollment on the platform. Professors can upload rosters, invite students to their course, drop students from the course and see how many students have yet to register!
Seed Questions Selection Tool
Within the Professor Tools Dashboard in each community, professors can search tags to find quality questions across the entire Packback platform. Before the semester starts, professors can also select their own Seed Questions for each community!
TA Invitation Tool
On the Edit Community page, professors can now invite TAs to their community. Packback will automatically create their account, add them as a TA into the class and send them training materials on how to use the platform.
